Cambridge Academy Instructor, Morgan Alexander, represented Great Britain in the World Savate Assaut Championships in Plovdiv, Bulgaria, from Friday 31st August to Sunday 2nd September. 200 fighters from more than 30 countries took part in the Championships.

Fighting in the Senior Women's 65-70kg category, Morgan won her first couple of fights. In the first, she beat the Italian Champion, and in the second she beat the Tunisian Champion. Her third fight was against the formidable French Champion, Helene Lelant. The French champion, eventual winner of the category, gained a close-fought win over Morgan.

In the semi-finals, Morgan was unfortunate to encounter the Slovenian multiple Champion, Nina Vehar, whose reach advantage and experience proved just too much. After the fight was over, the Slovenian was the first to congratulate Morgan on how hard and well she had fought.

Morgan was one of only two competitors from a team of eight, from Great Britain, to come home with a medal. The other fighter was James Antill from Surrey, who won a Bronze in the mens 70-75kg category.
